Executives of failed banks SVB and Signature testify at Senate Banking Committee

Becker, Shay, Howell blame historic bank runs, not mismanagement, for collapses; Brown says 'It sounds a lot like the dog ate my homework'

The Senate Banking Committee on May 16 held a hearing on "Examining the Failures of Silicon Valley Bank and Signature Bank." The witnesses were Gregory W. Becker, former CEO, Silicon Valley Bank; Scott A. Shay, former chairman and co-founder of Signature Bank; and Eric R. Howell, former president of Signature Bank.
