IRS releases final regulations on gifts to supporting organizations

The Treasury Department and IRS have released final regulations (TD 9981) on the prohibition of certain gifts or contributions to Type I and Type III supporting organizations from controlling donors as well as addressing certain other requirements for Type III organizations. The final regulations adopt the proposed regulations (REG-118867-10) with some modifications (see Tax Alert 2016-0366). A Tax Alert is forthcoming.
