Denmark confirms automatic extension of residence permits issued pursuant to the Ukraine Special Act

The Danish government recently confirmed that eligible holders of residence permits issued pursuant to the Special Act on displaced persons from Ukraine (“Special Act”) will automatically have their permits extended until 17 March 2025. On 3 November 2023, the Immigration Service provided further details about the extension of residence permits issued pursuant to the Special Act, which was initially announced in September 2023. The Immigration Service announced that it will automatically assess the eligibility of current residence permit holders for an extension. Individuals who continue to comply with the requirements of their existing permit and meet all relevant criteria will be notified regarding the extension of their permit. These individuals will receive a new residence card by mail and will not be required to resubmit biometric information (i.e., photo and fingerprints).
