Brazil announces new online visa application system for nationals of Australia, Canada and the US

Effective 1 December 2023, nationals of Australia, Canada and the US who travel to Brazil for business or tourism purposes on or after 10 January 2024 must obtain an electronic visit visa prior to travel. The Brazilian authorities have now launched an online visa application platform for impacted nationals of Australia, Canada and the US. These individuals must obtain an electronic visa prior to travel via this new platform and will not be able to apply for one at a consulate or embassy. These electronic visas will be issued for tourism or business purposes only, and holders will not be eligible to reside in Brazil using these visas. Travelers who enter Brazil for business or tourism purposes prior to 10 January 2024 are not required to obtain a visa, irrespective of when they depart from Brazil.
