France launches new tool to automatically notify certain residence permit holders of upcoming permit expiry

In May 2024, the Direction Générale des Etrangers launched a new online tool called PERSée, which notifies eligible residence permit holders before their permits are due to expire. The new tool, which is now operational, sends emails and SMSs to residence permit holders who have already used the ANEF (Digital Administration for Foreigners in France) platform four months, two months and one week, respectively, before their permit’s expiry. The tool is designed to support employees with preventing interruptions in their work and stay authorization and avoiding a penalty (of EUR 180) due to not applying to renew their permit on time.
