03 December 2024 Ireland announces relaxed travel guidelines for the Christmas holiday period On 28 November 2024, Ireland's Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) announced that certain holders of Irish Residence Permit (IRP) cards may travel to and from Ireland during the Christmas period using their expired card and other relevant documents. The temporary travel relaxation is valid from 2 December 2024 to 31 January 2025. During this period, non-EEA nationals holding an expired IRP card who have already submitted a renewal application before the expiry of their card and are awaiting a decision as of 2 December 2024 can travel to and from Ireland using their expired card. These individuals must carry their expired IRP card, a receipt of their renewal application and a copy of the notice on the ISD's website when traveling to or from Ireland during the relaxation period and present them to the border authorities or airline staff if requested.
