06 February 2025 Kentucky Department of Revenue to pause operations during rollout of new online portal for business taxpayers - The Kentucky Department of Revenue will pause operations from February 26 to March 14, 2025, to implement the new MyTaxes online portal for business taxpayers. This transition aims to enhance user experience by providing a comprehensive view of taxpayer data and increased self-service capabilities.
- Effective March 14, 2025, business tax filers will access various tax types, including Sales & Use tax, Corporation income tax, and Withholding tax, through the MyTaxes portal instead of the current OneStop system. Taxpayers are advised to complete any necessary filings before the shutdown to avoid delays.
- Historical data will not be accessible in OneStop after February 26, 2025, prompting businesses to print any required documentation prior to the pause. Login information for the new MyTaxes portal will be distributed in the first week of March.
- While individuals can file income tax returns from January 27 to April 15, 2025, the Department will not process returns or refunds during the two-week operational pause. Limited assistance will be available via phone during this period.

On January 15, 2025, the Kentucky Department of Revenue (Department) announced1 that MyTaxes, a new tax portal for business tax filers, is projected to be available on March 14, 2025. The Department will temporarily pause operations to facilitate the rollout from February 26 through March 14, 2025. MyTaxes is intended to offer business taxpayers: - A more comprehensive view of taxpayer data including filing, paying, and viewing return information for multiple tax types
- The ability to view taxpayer correspondence
- Increased self-service capabilities, such as submitting a refund application, making payments and requesting a letter of good standing
Beginning March 14, 2025, business tax filers will use the new MyTaxes portal, instead of OneStop, to access information and file the following taxes, fees and charges: - Sales & Use tax
- Corporation income tax
- Limited liability entity tax
- Telecommunications tax
- Withholding tax
- Utilities gross receipts license tax (UGRLT)
- Non-resident withholding tax
- Commercial mobile radio service charge
- Motor vehicle tire fee
- Transient room tax
- Tobacco and vapor products licensing tax
MyTaxes will also replace E-Tax, the UGRLT and Telecom filing system and WRAPS (the Withholding Returns and Payment System). The Department recommends that businesses complete any necessary filings before the shutdown to avoid delays and to print their historical data, which will not be accessible in OneStop as of February 26. Login information for MyTaxes will be sent during the first week of March. Individuals may still file their income tax returns at any point from January 27 through April 15, 2025; however, the Department will not process returns and refund payments during the two-week pause. Department staff will still be answering phone calls from taxpayers during this period, but they will only be able to provide limited assistance until normal operations resume March 14, 2025. Business taxpayers should consider the two-week pause in determining when to complete their filings. They might be well-served to complete any necessary filings and preserve documentation of those filings before the shutdown on February 26. The Department indicated that the full transition to MyTaxes will take multiple years to complete. * * * * * * * * * * | Endnote1 MyTaxes - Department of Revenue | * * * * * * * * * * | Contact Information | For additional information concerning this Alert, please contact: State and Local Tax | Published by NTD’s Tax Technical Knowledge Services group; Chris DeZinno, legal editor |
