UK confirms eVisa grace period to end on 1 June 2025

The authorities have confirmed that the eVisa grace period ending on 1 June 2025 is a hard deadline. Effective 2 June 2025, expired Biometric Residence Permits (BRPs) and EU Settlement Scheme Biometric Residence Cards (BRCs) will no longer be accepted as evidence of immigration status when traveling to the UK, making prompt eVisa registration necessary. The UK launched its eVisa system in April 2024, requiring individuals to convert their physical immigration documents into eVisas. Initially, a grace period was set until 31 March 2025 allowing those with expired documents to continue to travel to the UK. However, on 27 February 2025, the Home Office announced an extension of this grace period until 1 June 2025. As of that date, over four million UK visa holders have successfully created eVisa accounts, but approximately 600,000 individuals still needed to register. Account creation is mandatory for the transition, and effective 2 June 2025, expired BRPs and BRCs will no longer be accepted for travel to the UK.
