Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance increases minimum nontaxable amount for Net Wealth Tax

  • On 30 December 2025, Uruguay's Executive Branch approved an increase in the minimum nontaxable threshold for the Net Wealth Tax applicable to individuals, undivided estates and family units for the 2025 tax period.
 

On 30 December 2025, Uruguay's Ministry of Economy and Finance issued Decree No. 334/025 adjusting the Net Wealth Tax minimum nontaxable amount applicable to individuals for the fiscal year 2025.

According to the decree, the nontaxable amount for individual taxpayers and undivided successions, is set at 6,653,000 Uruguayan pesos (UYU6.653m) (equivalent to approximately US$166,000). For family units, the nontaxable minimum is double (approximately US$332,100).

By contrast, the minimum nontaxable amount for individuals in fiscal year 2024 was UYU6.381m (approximately US$145,040), and double for family units (approximately US$290,080). (See EY Global Tax Alert, Uruguay modifies minimum nontaxable amount of Net Wealth Tax, dated 14 January 2025.)
