IRS issues proposed regulations related to IRC Section 45Z clean fuel production credit

The IRS on February 3, 2026, issued proposed regulations (REG-121244-23) related to the clean fuel production credit under IRC Section 45Z, providing rules for determining the credit amount, credit eligibility, and certification and registration requirements. The proposed regulations would also modify existing regulations related to elective payments, credit transfers and federal excise tax registration. A Tax Alert is forthcoming.
