US President Trump issued a Section 232 proclamation on 2 April 2026, based on a finding that imports of patented pharmaceuticals, associated active pharmaceutical ingredients, and key starting materials threaten US national security; the proclamation imposes a 100% ad valorem tariff on products listed in Annex I, with targeted carveouts and reduced-rate pathways. Companies with Secretary-of-Commerce-approved onshoring plans face a 20% rate that increases up to 100% four years after the date of the proclamation. Companies with most-favored-nation pricing, as well as onshoring commitments, may be eligible to receive a 0% rate through 20 January 2029.

In a proclamation dated 2 April 2026, US President Trump applied tariffs under Section 232 of the Trade Expansion Act of 1962 to the full customs value of aluminum, steel, and copper articles and their derivatives, regardless of metal content. The proclamation modifies the tariff regimes such that 25% ad valorem duties apply to the full customs value of covered articles and their derivatives, rather than a 50% ad valorem duty on the covered metal content alone, and clarifies the scope of products covered by these tariffs.

On 18 March 2026, the Argentine Senate approved a tax treaty to prevent double taxation, tax evasion and tax avoidance between Argentina and Austria (the Tax Treaty). The Tax Treaty will enter into force once both countries complete their domestic ratification procedures and notify each other through diplomatic channels.
- Argentine Senate approves amending protocol of tax treaty with France
On 18 March 2026, the Argentine Senate approved the amending protocol (the Protocol), which had been signed on 6 December 2019, of the international agreement between Argentina and France to avoid double taxation and prevent tax evasion and avoidance (signed in 1979 and amended by a 2001 protocol). The Protocol is pending approval by the Chamber of Deputies.

The United Nations (UN) Tax Committee met in New York on 23-26 March 2026 to consider the proposed workplans of the subcommittees and ad hoc groups established at its 31st Session in Geneva in October 2025. The proposed workplans address: the UN Model Tax Convention; the UN treaty negotiation manual; transfer pricing; the digitalized and globalized economy; tax administration and artificial intelligence (AI); indirect taxes; extractive industries; environmental taxation; wealth taxation; tax and gender; and dispute avoidance and resolution.
