Jordan suspends recruitment of foreign workers to prioritize local employment

Effective 1 June 2026, Jordan's Ministry of Labour has suspended the recruitment of foreign workers across most economic sectors to prioritize employment for Jordanian nationals. The decision introduces a suspension on the recruitment of foreign workers across all sectors and economic activities, including recruitment conducted under agreements linked to the employment of Jordanian nationals, subject to specified exceptions.
