Norway increases salary thresholds for residence permits for work purposes

On 4 June 2026, the Norwegian Directorate of Immigration (UDI) announced increased salary thresholds for residence permits for work purposes. The revised compensation thresholds took effect retroactively on 1 May 2026. UDI uses the Basic Collective Agreement between the Norwegian Association of Local and Regional Authorities (KS) and the employee unions as a foundational benchmark to determine salary thresholds when no specific collective agreement applies to a particular industry.
