16 July 2026 Ireland introduces temporary travel measure for IRP renewal applicants On 13 July 2026, Ireland's Immigration Service Delivery (ISD) announced a temporary initiative to facilitate travel for Irish Residence Permit (IRP) renewal applicants during the summer period. This measure addresses ongoing delays in IRP renewal processing for individuals who submitted renewal applications before their IRP card expired. The notice applies from 13 July 2026 to 31 August 2026 only. Eligible individuals should download and print the notice and present it to airline or the immigration authorities when they return to Ireland, along with their expired IRP card and proof of submission of their renewal application, such as an email confirmation showing the date of submission. A Tax Alert prepared by EY's People Advisory Services, and attached below, provides additional details. Document ID: 2026-1527 |
