23 July 2026 Algeria implements Apostille Convention, simplifying authentication of public documents Effective 9 July 2026, Algeria has implemented the Hague Apostille Convention, replacing consular legalization requirements for certain public documents exchanged between Algeria and other Convention member countries. The change is expected to streamline document authentication processes for foreign workers, students, assignees and accompanying family members, while reducing administrative burdens for employers. Algerian citizens may request Apostilles through the national platform or directly from the competent authorities authorized to issue the certificate. Apostille stamps (Algerian dinar 1500 per document) are also available through tax offices and Algérie Poste offices.
