European Union imposes temporary visa restrictions on Guinean nationals

On 10 July 2026, the Council of the European Union adopted temporary restrictions on Schengen visa provisions for Guinean nationals, citing insufficient cooperation by Guinea on the readmission of its nationals residing irregularly in EU Member States. The measures include the suspension of multiple-entry visas, longer visa processing times, and the suspension of certain visa facilitation measures, including documentary evidence and optional visa fee waivers for holders of diplomatic and service passports.
