Six points tax leaders can use to sway CDO data strategy

The 2026 EY-Parthenon CEO Outlook Survey, a quarterly survey of 1,200 global CEOs across 21 countries, finds more than 80% of CEOs agree that high-quality tax and finance data is critical to unlocking AI’s potential to deliver the strategic insights needed to drive enterprise value. Yet, tax functions are typically consulted only after key design decisions, even as enterprise data strategies accelerate across most large organizations. This makes correcting misalignment in data architecture significantly harder, according to Daren Campbell, EY USLI Tax Technology and Transformation Leader. “Historically, tax hasn’t had a seat at the table when data strategies are designed. They’re involved after the fact, and by that stage it’s too late,” says Campbell, who also serves as EY Global Tax Data Officer (CDO).
